Scholarships on the website are updated on a weekly basis. Make sure you stop in the counselor's office frequently and check the small bulletin boards outside the counseling office- new scholarships come in daily! 

Once you have decided on a college to attend, do some investigating of your own. Check out the college's website and talk to the college financial aid department to find out about any existing scholarships that you might be eligible for. I do not get information on all scholarships, nor do I know about all scholarships that exist, and would hate for you to miss out on an opportunity to get more money for your education. 

FOR JUNIORS ONLY: Apply now for the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award. This award is given to 15 juniors who propose and then accomplish projects of their own design. Application deadline is March 31, 2010.

The Kenneth G. Meyerhoff Memorial Scholarships are awarded on two levels in the amounts of $500 and $800. They may be applied to tuition or room and board at college of your choice. Scholarships are renewable. Deadline for this scholarship is March 5, 2010.

Student athletes planning to attend college are encouraged to apply for the Body by Milk scholarship. This scholarship is for $7500. Deadline to apply is March 5, 2010.

Covenant Medical Center Auxilary and Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary are offering scholarships to students planning a health care career. Application deadline is March 12, 2010.

Kwik Trip Community Scholarships are awarded to students in communities in which a Kwik Trip/Kwik Star is located. One $500 scholarship is awarded to each school. Deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 15th and must be turned in to Mrs. Frye. 

The Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education is offering a scholarhsip to students who plan to enter a field dealing with the automotive industry and plans to attend Hawkeye CC. The scholarship is worth $2000. Deadline to apply is March 15th, 2010.  

The Iowa Soybean Association is offering a scholarship for $1500. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 and be the son/daughter or grandchild of a current member of the Iowa Soybean Association. Deadline is March 15th.

The Cedar Valley Chapter NAPM is offering three $1000 scholarships to eligible high school students. This is open to any senior who is planning to attend an accredited college and have a 3.0 GPA. Applicants should have a good understanding of business practices. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2010.  

Applications are open for the Warnock Scholarship, which is awarded by the First Presbyterian Church. The scholarshiop is open to any senior who has a 3.0 GPA, has financial need, is active in a church, and has good leadership and character. Deadline is March 15, 2010.

The First Friday Breakfast Club has four $2,500 scholarships they are awarding to students who have played a roll in reducing homophobia and increasing awareness and tolerane of GLBT issues. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2010.

The ACACIA Leadership Scholarship is available for any student who plans to attend Iowa State University. Students who have demonstrated outstanding academics, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement are urged to apple, Deadline in April 1, 2010.

The Dale Schoreder Memorial Scholarshio Program is for residents of Iowa that reside in a community with a population between 1 and 10,000 and who plan to attend Iowa, Iowa State, or UNI. You must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. This scholarship is for $15,000 per year. Deadline is April 5, 2010. 

Students interested in attending Kirkwood Community College need to see Mrs, Frye for scholarship opportunities. Deadline to apply for their awards is April 16, 2010.

The Marsha Nichols Scholarship is intended to strengthen and support the performing arts. This scholarship is worth $250.00 and is available for any Dunkerton senior who has a 2.5 GPA and is interested in and talented in the performing arts. Applicants may be interviewed by the committee. Deadline is April 30, 2010.

MidWest One Bank is offering the Pearl Hull Falk scholarship for high school seniors. Students must be protestant, a resident of Iowa, and accepted as a full time student to the University of Iowa. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2010.

Juniors and Seniors in Black Hawk County have the opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship by writing an essay on watershed conservation and why protecting local rivers and streams is imortant to your community. Deadline to apply is May 25th, 2010.  

The Iowa PGA annually awards a college scholarship in the amount of $4000. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf and the potential for future contributions to the game. Deadline to apply is June 18, 2010.
